Scrapbooks, book manuscripts, newspaper clippings, and correspondence relating primarily to Washburn's career as a war correspondent for the Chicago Daily News in the Russo-Japanese War (1904-1905) and on the Russian front during World War I in various capacities and his experiences as an explorer in Canada; correspondence (mainly 1920s-1950) regarding personal matters, business interests, and U.S. foreign policy; and information on his political campaigns and on "home front" activities during World War II.
